Something like distance grows the heart, or

you don’t know til it’s gone, rather

wanting what you can’t have..

At certain times, each of these seem true.

Like a death over seas to enemies unseen, or

missing the jitters caused by lack of caffine, rather

the measurements of a sculpture of a man at 18 feet.

Don’t be so insignificant that you can’t tell me you missed my

private hands on wickedly tied strings

which pulls on an unmoved body.

You called me ‘doe with the softness in her eyes’.

You said I was gentle with words like chick feathers.

I just wanted your tough—the angry fight—your will to satisfy—

Only for yourself, but I wanted the quivers you gave,

and I took it and went away…

Please.

Don’t be angry now.

I’ve returned just like the floating bottle,

just like a babe to its mother’s warm breast,

just like you knew I would.

You knew, didn’t you?
